Demons of Infernum Giveaway!!! (NOW CLOSED)

Now, as you may have noticed, I am a bit of a fangirl when it comes to the Demons of Infernum series by Rosalie Lario. It is my favourite series ever and I'm very excited to announce that Rosalie has offered up an ebook as a giveaway prize here at Once Upon a Series.

As the prize is an ebook then the contest is open internationally and the winner can choose any book from the series as their prize. So to help you choose, here are the summaries for all four books:

1. Blood of the Demon (read my review)
Keegan lives to exact revenge on the evil demon who sired and abused him. When his father devises a plan to bring on the apocalypse, he and his three half-brothers, interdimensional bounty hunters for the Elden Council, are charged with capturing and delivering their father for punishment.

Art gallery owner Brynn Meyers has no idea that her ability to read memories embedded in objects and drain people of their life force means she has demon ancestry. Unfortunately for Brynn, she's also the key to raising an ancient zombie army, which puts her on every demon's Most Wanted List. And no one wants her more than Keegan's father. Keegan must protect Brynn from his father by any means necessary, but he'll have to learn to harness the other half of his genetics-the far deadlier, uncontrollable half-when he starts to fall for the one woman standing between him and the vengeance he so desperately seeks. The one woman he'll never be able to resist.

2. Mark of the Sylph (read my review)
Half-demon Taeg is desperate to free his pregnant sister-in-law, who is spellbound to an indestructible book that will create an army of the undead. He is convinced that an ancient sword can destroy the book and the spell forever, but this relic has been hidden for a millennia by a powerful glamour. The clock begins to run out on his search when an old rival goes after the book and Taeg’s family in his quest for revenge.

Librarian Maya Flores has a secret: she’s immune to magic and is well aware of the supernatural beings prowling the streets of New York City. Haunted by a brutal demon attack that took her family, she is on a one-woman mission to destroy the evil demons who did it—and any others who get in her way.

Maya is Taeg’s best hope for uncovering the sword. Unfortunately, she wants nothing more than to kill him. As he fights for her trust and to save his family, she is forced to face the truth that not all demons are evil. And the worst part? She might be falling in love with one, too.

3. Touch of the Angel (read my review)
After months of no work, interdimensional bounty hunter Ronin Meyers jumps at the chance to locate an incubus who’s using succubi as murder weapons. Faced with the possibility of being forced to return to hellish Infernum if he fails, Ronin and his brothers will stop at nothing to take out the incubus and anyone else involved—even the beautiful succubus who stole his heart, then nearly his life, during the most mind-blowing hour of his existence.

Night after night, Amara and her fellow succubi are forced to extract special abilities from the strongest Otherworlders for their psychotic master’s growing collection. When the gorgeous angel-demon hybrid she believed to be dead captures her, Amara is both stunned and elated. But the happily ever after she’s dreamed of will have to wait. Together, they must bring down the madman hellbent on destroying them…and become each other’s salvation in the process.

4. Heart of the Incubus (novella) (read my review)
Biochemist Cresso Taylor lives the sort of lifestyle most men would envy—he has wealth, natural incubus charm, and more women than he can handle. But it’s not enough anymore. Not after meeting Genevieve Russell, the sexy scientist who works with him at Elcorp Laboratory. And she wants absolutely nothing to do with him.

After her fiancé broke her heart, Genevieve has had enough of womanizers. She’s determined to steer clear of sexy-as-sin Dr. Taylor, despite the fact that his incubus allure makes her want to rip his clothes off. But when a secret admirer’s affection turns to the macabre with threatening notes and grisly gifts, Cresso appoints himself her protector. As she and Cresso hunt her stalker, she discovers there’s a lot more to the sensual incubus than she ever imagined.

So here's what you have to do for a chance to win this fantastic prize:

Just leave a comment below stating your email address and which book you would like if you win!

The contest is open INTERNATIONALLY until 29th February!

Paranormal Romance Month Review: Heart of the Incubus by Rosalie Lario (Demons of Infernum #4)

Book Info - Biochemist Cresso Taylor lives the sort of lifestyle most men would envy—he has wealth, natural incubus charm, and more women than he can handle. But it’s not enough anymore. Not after meeting Genevieve Russell, the sexy scientist who works with him at Elcorp Laboratory. And she wants absolutely nothing to do with him.

But when a secret admirer’s affection turns to the macabre with threatening notes and grisly gifts, Cresso appoints himself her protector. As she and Cresso hunt her stalker, she discovers there’s a lot more to the sensual incubus than she ever imagined.

My Thoughts - To say that I am a fan of the Demons of Infernum series would, I think, be quite an understatement. This is the fourth installment of the series and it just keeps getting better and better. I'm awaiting the final book (due for release later this year) with a mixture of intense excitement and complete and utter dread because I just don't want to series to finish!

In Heart of the Incubus, Ms Lario introduces the reader to a cast of incredibly real and instantly loveable characters. The hero of the piece is Cresso - an Incubus fiend of the Meyers brothers that the rest of the series focuses on. Cresso has fallen in love with a colleague, Genevieve, but she doesn't want anything to do with him. He is basically starving himself because he can't bear the thought of being with anybody who isn't Genevieve. The author describes his feelings of torture over this situation so well that it is impossible not to fall in love with him. And when he finds out Genevieve is being stalked, his alpha male protective side comes to the forefront - making him even more sexy!

Genevieve has been hurt by a man in the past so she is wary of any man who seems like too much of a playboy - especially an incubus! But she ends up spending a lot of time with Cresso when he volunteers himself as her protector. She is strong and intelligent but she isn't very confident so she hides behind a geeky scientist persona, and I loved this vulnerablility. One thing that I didn't much like about her though was the way that past events in her life lead her to be very critical of Cresso and the lifestyle he used to lead, despite the fact that he is now risking his life to protect her. I'm just glad she came to her senses eventually!

The mystery element involving the stalker was well written and kept me hooked. It added a layer of suspense to the novel that really complimented the romantic aspects of the story. I wasn't able to work out who the stalker was so the ending was a complete surprise for me. And the romance between Cresso and Genieveve was well written and very steamy, keeping me on the edge of my seat waiting for the big moment to happen!

Summary - An amazing installment in one of my favourite series. I was hooked from the first page and read the whole thing in one sitting. If you are a paranormal romance fan who hasn't started this series yet, then you REALLY need to pick up one of these books today!

Review: Touch of the Angel by Rosalie Lario (Demons of Infernum #3)

Publisher - Entangled Publishing
Publication Date - December 2011

My Thoughts - Ok, so I will try and write this review without too much gushing and fangirling - but I'm not making any promises! I absolutely loved the first two books in this series and had been waiting to read this book for a while. So as soon as my copy arrived I put everything else to one side (well, review books anyway - my kids don't take too kindly to being put aside for a book!) and started reading it straight away. And I absolutely loved it!

One of my favourite things about this series is the world that the author creates. It is so easy to lose yourself within the pages of these books and to fall in love with the characters. The story flows well with a good balance between romance, mystery and action with some good twists along the way to keep the reader guessing.

For those of you who haven't read the other books in the series, Ronin is one of four brothers who are all half-demon/half-something-else (they all have mothers from different species) and what I have enjoyed in all the books was the closeness between these brothers. But things have changed slightly in this one as the eldest brother is now married and his wife is expecting a baby any day now, and another brother has got engaged. I loved how they were still able to stay close despite everything else going on in their lives and how well this part of the story reflects real life.

I also enjoyed reading about how the women in their lives interact with each other. Brynn and Maya have become close and they take Amara under their wing too. Their girly moments bring some light relief during the course of the story.

Ronin and Amara make a very sexy couple and although everything stacks up against them at the beginning you can't help but hope they get their Happy Ever After. There is a huge amount of chemistry between the two and a lot of very steamy scenes.

And the ending was just perfect - a big showdown with the bad guy that had some twists that I just wasn't expecting. And, although everything in this story was wrapped up well enough to feel completely satisfied, the author has snuck in a few tantalizing threads of storyline that will make you desperate to get your hands on book four! So much so that whilst chatting to the author on Twitter the other day I told her that the wait may well be the death of me (if you're reading this Rosalie - I mean you! *gives evil eye*).

Summary - Part of an amazing paranormal romance series that all fans of the genre must read! I can't recommend highly enough!

Character Interview: Taeg from Mark of the Sylph

Hi everybody, as some of you may have seen, I recently reviewed Mark of the Sylph by Rosalie Lario which I absolutely loved (you can see my 5 out of 5 review here).

I have been lucky enough to get together with one of the main characters, Taeg, for a little interview. For those of you who don't know, Taeg is one of the sexiest half-demons you are likely to come across who is well known for his love of T-shirts with comical slogans on them!

So this is what happened when I got to meet Taeg...

Chrissie: Hi Taeg! How are you doing today? Hmm, I can’t quite see that slogan on your T-shirt. What does it say?

Taeg: *Glances down at T-shirt, which reads Drunk and Horny, and grins sheepishly.* Yeah, my girl Maya really wants me to get rid of this shirt, but I’ve got it worn in just right, ya know?

Chrissie: Oh yeah, I can see that! So you’re a demon, huh? You don’t look much like a demon to me *smiles and bats eyelashes*
Taeg: Only half. *cheeky grin* See, us demons aren’t “demons” in the sense humans think of. We’re actually a species from a dimension called Infernum. Most humans don’t know that there are a bunch of different dimensions, and travel’s possible by way of an interdimensional portal.
My mom was an air sylph from a dimension called Faelan. Uh... now that’s a long story. Suffice it to say my dad was a sorry ass-munch who got off on abusing women of all different species. I’m tinkled pink he’s rotting in an interdimensional prison right now.

Chrissie:  Sounds as though he's in the right place. And what about your three brothers? Are they all half-demons too?
Taeg: Yeah, but their other halves are all different. Like I said, sicko dad. Keegan’s the oldest, and he’s half dragon-shifter. Ronin’s half angel. *Coughs and it sounds suspiciously like Pussy.* Dagan’s half siren. He can breathe underwater. That comes in handy more than you might think.

Chrissie: Hmm, I'm sure it does *looks confused* So what was it like growing up with the super-evil Mammon as your father?
Taeg: The guy was an ass-hole. Capital “A”. Shit, he even killed Keegan’s mom when my bro was just an infant. Good riddance to the tool, I say.

Chrissie: I agree! So you come from a place called Infernum. How would you describe your homeland to us mere humans?
Taeg: Let’s just say it’s not on the top of anyone’s destination wishlist. It’s dark, hot as hell, and there aren’t any decent bars. Trust me, you got it good here on Earth.

Chrissie: Ok, so I don't think I'll be planning a vacation there any time soon! And what exactly is it that you do for a living back in Infernum?
Taeg: Me and my brothers are bounty hunters for the council that governs travel between the dimensions. We capture fugitives and turn them into the council. We used to do it back on Infernum, but several months ago we all got leave to move to NYC. We keep pretty busy. There are more Otherworlders here than you’d think.

Chrissie: Right, I'll bear that in mind! Now I’ve heard a little rumour that you’ve got yourself a girlfriend who likes to try and kill you sometimes! *leaning much closer* Are you sure it’s not time to find yourself a new girlfriend?
Taeg: *Gives a good-natured laugh.* Truth be told, I’ve met my match with Maya. The woman ain’t afraid to kick some ass when she needs to, even if it’s mine. She couldn’t be more perfect for me. And also *glances around furtively* if she sees you leaning in like that, she’ll kick both our asses. Fair warning.

Chrissie: Warning noted *sits up straight again* Before we go is there anything else that you would like us mortals to know about you?
Taeg: If you want to read about how me and Maya met, pick up Mark of the Sylph. It’s a good story, if I may say so myself. And Maya? *shakes head admiringly* Damn, that chick can fight.

I absolutely agree with Taeg - go out and buy Mark of the Sylph now! It is one of the best books I've read this year! And in case you need any more pursuading, here is the blurb...

Review: Mark of the Sylph by Rosalie Lario (Demons of Infernum #2)

Publisher - Entangled Publishing
Publication Date - September 2011
Paperback - 268 pages
Genre - Paranormal Romance

Source - Received from publisher for review

Rating - 5 out of 5: It was amazing!

Book Info - Half-demon Taeg is desperate to free his pregnant sister-in-law, who is spellbound to an indestructible book that will create an army of the undead.

My Thoughts - I really enjoyed the first book in the series so I was very excited about reading Mark of the Sylph. When I first started reading this book I really did think it was going to be a disappointment. The author decides to start the novel with our hero, Taeg, kidnapping Maya, which is exactly the way that Keegan and Brynn meet in Blood of the Demon (not to mention how the hero seems to meet the heroine in most PNR novels!). I was worried that book two would end up being book one but with different characters. But luckily I carried on reading and I was proved wrong. The author is able to get away with using the kidnapping storyline again because she doesn't take it all too seriously. Even the characters are laughing and joking about the similarities between how the two couples meet. This meant that I didn't take it too seriously either and I could enjoy the rest of the novel without feeling frustrated. Plus, the rest of the storyline is nothing like Blood of the Demon either.

My favourite thing about this book were the two main characters. I have to admit to falling a little bit in love with Taeg *swoon*. Not only is he gorgeous and a bit of a charmer, but he doesn't take life too seriously. In most books I have read with demons as a main character, they have tended to have a very woe-is-me attitude and they do a lot of brooding. But Taeg isn't like that at all and he is like a breath of demon fresh air. He likes a laugh and likes flirting with the ladies. Plus he completely accepts what he is and doesn't feel like he has anything to be ashamed of. He definitely doesn't have a chip on his shoulder like a lot of other demon main characters I could mention.

Maya is a great main character too. She is completely kick-ass and doesn't take any nonsense from Taeg. In fact there are many times at the beginning of the book where she tries to kill him because of what he is. But she has been through a lot in her life and as Taeg starts to earn her trust the reader starts to see a more vulnerable side. Maya and Taeg complement each other really well as a couple and there are some very steamy scenes between the two of them.

The storyline moves along at a good pace with a balance between action, romance and plot. The ending is great, with some twists that I didn't see coming. I just love the world that Ms. Lario has created in this series and I can't wait to read more about the brothers in the upcoming books in the series.

Summary - I have fallen in love with this series and I really can't recommend it enough to fans of the paranormal romance genre. You need to read this book TODAY!!!
